We can Choose!

Following this tweet by Dear Brother Dennis Cardiff:

Happiness is a choice. Optimism is a choice. Kindness is a choice. Giving is a choice. Respect is a choice. Choose wisely.- Vala Afshar

These are Not only things to Live By;

They are also things that Make Us Live, Allow Us to Keep on Living, Give Us the Strength to go on Living, even Happily, particularly at times when We want to give up and Die!

Years ago I had learnt this lesson, though I got the words slightly differently, viz, Decide to be Happy.

Of course, in time, We learn that not everything brings happiness, and that Only Certain things do. But once We have decided, it becomes possible for Us to pursue those same, and Achieve Happiness on a day to day basis.

Note: Irom remained on Fast for longer than that, but now she has given it up, following ‘promises’ by the govt. Which the govt has Not fulfilled. 😦

Let Us Choose to be Happy; Let Us Decide to be Happy! 🙂 🙂 🙂

And let Us also remember that it is not only just about happiness!

  1. Those who are asked whether they would want to go on living w/ a debilitating condition of some kind — for instance, paralysis — are often quick to cast their vote for suicide. But studies have shown that the men and women actually dealing w/ serious disabilities are often quite content w/ their lives. Once the initial shock has passed, their “happiness quotient” is no less than that of those without such challenges.

    Handicaps and obstacles of the kind we might not choose for ourselves can, also, give rise to heroes. Bethany Hamilton, who lost her left arm to a shark bite, returned to surfing. Seriously injured war veterans have trekked to the South Pole. There is a blind sailing competition. Kind of leaves what we call the “able-bodied” in the dust.
