On the 4 ‘Debts’ in Hinduism

I had learnt of these ‘Debts’ during my Youth, and had always been Impressed by it. But I could remember only 3, and was searching the net for the totality.

My search led me thousands, of course, of which I found these 3 both concise and clear. Am giving You the reference to them through links:

And came across this blog, which again specifies just 3, but I find the Epilogue the Author has written to his little piece simply Marvellous! I quote that:

“With turmoils aplenty in today’s life, I found this section most appropriate to solve many problems in today’s day and age. Hindu society today falls short of at least three of the above four parameters, donations of wealth, knowledge, getting children and caring for nature. With substantial amounts of all the four, we might just succeed in putting our nation on the right track.”

  1. What a wonderful quote indeed!

1-Donations of Wealth — to those less fortunate (as well as philanthropic gifts to humanity by the 1% and voting for equitable tax laws and a livable minimum wage, and appropriating funds to feed the hungry, house the homeless & heal the sick)

2- Attaining and sharing Knowledge (including donating some of that wealth toward the education system, and keeping up with the advances in science and medicine with an eye toward health)

3- Caring for our planet (EVEN when strip mining it would increase wealth by reducing the reliance on foreign sources of energy, recycling & reducing waste), and

4- CHILDREN – *everybody’s* children (protecting them, clothing & feeding them, loving them, educating them, listening to them, mentoring them to become adults who are kind, ethical, and likely to pass the Truths on by observing them).

Now THAT would be a platform to run on, huh? It seems a certain politician just elected has some SERIOUS work to do in all four regards. Not likely that he will, but miracles happen, right?

    Thanks for pointing me here.
