A much Mis-understood, Mis-used and Maligned word.
It is Terrorism ONLY WHEN People (even things), totally Unconnected with the Military, are Harmed/Killed/Destroyed.
One of the Best examples I can think of is the Jallianwala bagh massacre.

That having taken place in Punjab, India, my next example is also cited from there. Between 1960 and 1970, I think. Northwest India had seen terrible wranglings over WATER. I think this later turned into a call for separate statehood by some Sikhs. but this rambling, and quite possibly inaccurate lines are not the point.
The point is that I distinctly remember my hearing reports of some people even gunning down people (mere bus passengers) during those days. There it is. Killing Civilians (people having Nothing to do with the military; politicians being different, as they control the military).
To repeat, Killing Civilians Intentionally is Terrorism.
The purpose of terrorism is to make the authorities give in, change their mind.
Here We see how things can be used for the same intention.
There have been tyrants who have killied, maimed, tortured, millions. Leaving out long histories, We have hitler and mao.
They induced Terror. But TerrorISM is a bit modern concept, and has ‘limited’ applications.
putin, bombing the eastern parts of Ukraine, (even without killing civilians), is carrying out Terrorism.
(Totally destroyed buildings, towns, villages, factories… of what physical use can this be for him?)

Here’s a further, and important point.
The condition in all above three graphics is the result of long-range shelling and missiles, which, coming from afar, would not have pin point accuracy.
For the querelous, putin seems to have either lacking, or run out of ‘cruise’ missiles.
(The above was also possible by bombing, though I do not know whether putin used this method much).
This lack of accuracy on the part of putin’s method of attack is what has unnecessarily destroyed so many buildings, and worse, cost the death of so many civilians, including the mother of these sweet children. These effects would be well known by all military minds; and putin would have known this too.
If these do not make putin a terrorist, what would?

The Netizens have a name for the TV channels in general in India, namely, ‘the godi media.’
Take, for instance, the TV channels tearing into the 19 children killed in the US, (heinous as it is);
but nary a word about the rabid dog, (see! found a new name for the mad dog) – to continue, nary a word about the rabid dog killing children in the 100s/1000s (? You choose), – in poor ole Ukraine.
I mean buy your effing oil and coal, but Come out and Say putin bombarding from AFAR, on Civilian areas, is wrong.
THAT is the problem. Under the bjp, India has lost her soul.
Everything, and I mean everything that modi does is a masterstroke for his uneducated supporters.
It could mean the media that is modi’s/bjp’s (this latter being the ruling party in India just now). It could also mean that it is modi’ media, but We dont have enough Freedom to say that.
People just blame the media, saying it receives/accepts money from the bjp.
But there is something worse; much more sinister. The bjp simply and Easily resorts to Violence. And People Know that. And are Afraid.
Facebook AND twitter had said that their officials were getting (physical) threats.

Which Worse?

2 issues. Both concerning the catholic church. Prompted by a movie I watched y’day, namely: Spotlight.
Speaking on the movie, neither enjoyed it nor understood it well. Give me Jackie Chan’s Rumble in the Bronx any time.
Spotlight dealt with Pedophile priests in the cath. church, saying the malaise reached farther than individual cases. Organized? Peculiar. But the idea that it ‘lives’ on the support of the Laity is Well said.
Sadly, I am a person personally acquainted with a lot of pain, and not just mine. A whole batch of young nuns who had been raped had come to the ashram of ***, in ***, while I was there. Some of them spoke to me too.
I know 2 grown up men, one of them a priest, victims of sexual abuse when young, and how ‘destroyed’ they are.
I know a number of children, victims of same.
As for myself, a man, in present day Mumbai, but Many years ago, had kissed me on the cheek, (and how! he had ‘sucked’ my cheek into his mouth, the very memory of which revolts); and a senior seminerian, (today a respected member of the clergy), as per his usual practice, had run his hand over my bum while a whole bunch of us were on the stairs. I would bring up, if I were to dwell on it.
Coming back to the cath. church – (let others take up and comment and try to clean up their own groups) – part of the malaise lies with the church which lays so much stock on celibacy. This itself is trying to satisfy the expectation of the Laity!
What I mean to say is, from the Extreme Resulsion I feel from these memories, and from the sharing I have received, I can understand just How Affected victims of sexual abuse feel.
For all that… While the number of those affected by sexual abuse, even within living memory would be Large,

A young catholic woman, was surrounded by about 40 young men and ragged. I personally know of this.
A young man, accused of ‘riding his motorcycle fast,’ (false charge), had stones thrown at him while he was riding. He had been injured in the process. …Once, while he was taking me to the bus stop, I saw the so-called upper-caste boys pick up stones. They desisted only after noticing me.
A very highly educated man (being of the so called lower caste), now about 65, is in shambles because of the way he is treated, again by the so called upper caste. Case personally known.
Let us come to Priests. Priests of the so called lower caste All but Weep.
Tamil Nadu is Most infamous in this. Even the bishops are chosen with caste in mind.
