Embrace the Criticism and Learn

If I may dare criticise this, I would say it is slightly Long! But,

It is a Good, and even Necessary Read, for Writers and Artists.

Two quotes from the post:

‘Ask any artist, they rarely remember the good reviews, it’s the bad ones they keep close to their hearts. If they’re sensible, they look upon it with dispassion and detachment (a difficult thing) and learn from it.’

‘Every potential consumer is a critic, by definition.’

Challenge… The Establishment!

We See that there are Very many things that Need Change, and in which We can play a role. The Establishment, the Administration or the government, (to use the old word), Needs to be Challenged. So let us Challenge It, which will start with Criticism!

Here are Two Great Cartoon, which, again Are Not Mine. I found both of them in Facebook.

Here, the Journalist is asking ‘corruption,’ ‘Who is your Best Friend these days?’

To which corruption relies: ‘Section 144.’

This is the law that forbids People from gathering in groups of more than 4. It is supposed to be used when Violence is expected. But apply it to Peaceful Protests, and We have Goodbye Democracy, because it would  take away from Us the Very Means to Protest.

We have laws which Effectively make us Fools and Slaves. You are Not allowed to Question the judiciary. OR ELSE it becomes ‘contempt of court.’

Do Not these kinds of things, the Establishment, Need to be Challenged? I call this Criticism. And of this I do a lot. …Let us also Remember to Question, Criticise and Challenge the Religious Establishments too! More on this later.

On the Value of Criticism

I wonder if there is Anybody who does Not Criticise, but People become Very Uncomfortable with it, even when They are Not being questioned. Yet, Criticism is Used Regularly, though We might Fail to Notice it.

Criticism is judging the Rightness or Wrongness, the merits and faults of something or someone. We use it in our Lives when We ‘Critically Evaluate’ the pros and cons of Our Children’s Schools and Colleges, the Merits of Various Insurance companies, and what not, in a hundred ways!

Here is a picture of some of my Favourite Gals! The Indian, Girls Hockey Team!

In the CWG at Glasgow, Our team, after enjoying some success against Canada and Scotland, got a drubbing at the hands of New Zealand. After We were 0-3, I stopped watching. It was too painful!

Sports channels have a way of showing, Repeatedly, the Triumphs of one’s country. That is to be understood. Who is going to watch one’s country being brought low? They also show the ‘Great Knocks’ of Individual players.

Those kinds of Tapes must be easy to get these days. Now let us take the case of YUVRAJ SINGH, that Cricketing Giant! The First man to hit 6 Sixes in an Over in the IPL, and, in 2011, Instrumental in India’s win in an Important game, While he was Experiencing the Pains of what was later diagnosed as Cancer.

Though Yuvi has made a Comeback, and playing International cricket once again, he is Not doing so well these days.

Now, Would Yuvraj be Watching Only the Videos of his Triumphs? Would he Not spend Much time after every match of his, Analysing the things that require his attention? Most probably with his Coach? Criticism in Action.

Every time a Team takes a ‘Timeout,’ the Coach might be saying: ‘Bowl to the Right length,’ ‘Keep Your line Straight,’ etc. Which all Mean, that The fellow had not been Doing it Right. Criticism.

Going back to the India’s Girl’s Hockey Team, What is going to Win Matches is discussion about How the Individuals had Hogged the Ball, How they had been Late in Making the Passes, How their Passes had not been Accurate, How they would have to Improve their ‘Collecting’ skills, etc.

Those who Criticise might Very often be found Quite Angry, or even Violent. That does not prove the Criticism Wrong! Well, Not everybody has ‘People Skills.’

It is Not that C alone should be our Lookout, or that We should be spending Time on Speaking and Writing on This subject Alone.

If my Daughter is telling me that a particular Teacher is doing this or that in School, if I do not go up and Confront him, it is going to be My Daughter who shall continue to face Abuse.

It depends upon Us, Individually, to evaluate (criticize!), Just How Much Time We have given to the Upliftment of Society, which can also be called the Betterment of Our Own Children.

Let us Not be ‘catholic-tards’

Somehow, the words AAP-tard, bjp-tard, etc, started going the rounds. They meant a person who supported the AAP or the bjp, No Matter What, ie, even if the party or the leader was in the wrong. Thus, A ****tard is one who BLINDLY Supports his party or his leader, Blind to Reality. We should always make Use of a Good thing. Hence a ‘catholic-tard.’

As You would know, I am a catholic Priest, myself. But that does Not, and Should Not, prevent me from Speaking out when things are wrong in the church. Nor Should You. Paul did that, pointing out things to Peter, as in Galatians 2:11-14. Then We have had St. Teresa of Avila, Joan of Arc, just to name a few.

Searching for images for ‘Blind to Reality,’ came across the above, and Very Good it is too!

Many people become Uncomfortable with Criticism. As for the Very NEED for it, Please click here. I am Not saying that there anything Wrong with the catholic Faith. In particular, the Catholic Theology cannot be Faulted. But as for putting things into Practice, Wow!

During the same search, came across this, which is also Very Apt.

Whether it is Patriot-ism or Catholic-ism, We cannot afford to Turn Our Face Away from Reality. Wrong is Wrong, as Malcolm says.

catholics, in Large numbers, leave the church and join others. Or Just Drop Out. This is happening very much in the 25-40 year old Age group. I personally Know of at least 10. And good people they are too. This is the Number of those who have Declared their opinions.

Who is Responsible for this? I hold the catholic leadership, the ecclesiastical authorities answerable. The Laxity of Good Leadership brings a Bad Name not only to Christianity, but also to Religion in general.

Here, the case in point is the leadership of the catholic church. Let us leave Christ-is-the-head-of-the-church and all that for now. A True Vicar is ONLY the one who Knows How to listen, Does Listen, and does what is told him. Huge Failures. And remember, Let us not be ‘catholic-tards.’

Both in the Old Testament, eg in Isaiah 56:9-12, and in the New, Especially from the mouth of Jesus, as in: “Beware of the Leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees,” Matthew 16:6, the e authorities have come in for a lot of criticism, due to their Lax lives.

In this and the following 2 posts, I shall show some of the Ugly things that have crept into, particularly, the lives of our ecclesiastical authorities. It behooves catholics to put on their thinking caps and consider, and not be ‘tards’ while doing this.

tweets: (20th March ’14). 3.

1. Dissatisfaction with party; AAP. IF Our candidate or self Not chosen, shd We also leave AAP, like other parties? Why did We join?

2. Dissatisfaction with party; AAP. After leaving, are We going to start new party? Or pull AAP down?!

3. Dissatisfaction with party; AAP. Can We show enough Love for COUNTRY by Staying on, and Working for AAP? Address problems later?

4. Dissatisfaction with party; AAP. Example: Volunteers Not Organized/ Mobilized in TN. Those with Exp shd do THAT for Love of Country.

5. Dissatisfaction with party; AAP. So, instead of criticizing, Let us DO something constructive and positive for COUNTRY. Not just talk!

Lopsided Criticism

This is different from Stilted Reporting. Only the media indulges in ‘that!’

We are ALL Criticizing! Criticism, after all, means ‘judging.’ So We are All judges. And some fellows are being called ‘justices!’ Lol.

On the Lowest, what might be called the silly level, it is choosing between this potato or that one, this shirt today or the other. On higher levels, We decide if a person is Trustworthy and whether We are going to interact with them further or not.

Thus Criticism cannot be Avoided, and it is not Wrong.

But when people criticize when they should be Praising and vice versa, We start Pulling our Hair. And when Lopsided Criticism is applied to Public domain and National Issues, We Start Losing our Hair. Let us take a few cases.

(No)mamata banerjee’s cadres use Gang Rape as a political tool, and this brings out Low Criticism. azam khan sends out whole companies of the police force to search for his blasted buffaloes, again Low C. Somnath Bharti’s ‘orders’ the delhi police to investigate Sex and Drug rackets, …what a Hulla bulla! And that Somnath was later proved right is another matter.

Andhra’s protests bringing Movement to a Standstill on a National level is considered not even worth talking about. But if the AAP-ians protest, it is the End of the World!

For more than 60 years, the major political parties had been farting around. That is run of the mill. If AAP wants those laws changed, ‘AAP does not respect laws, AAP does not know how to govern,’ and Much More.

…Well, the PIGS in Animal Farm had made laws too. And they were enforced by the Dogs. And the laws were ‘followed’ by the Sheep. …80% of our Populace is made of Sheep too. But Some of Us SHALL Criticize at least Some of the Laws and the Doings of business houses, and their handmaidens – policos, courts and the police.

Only History can decide Who was Lopsided and Who was Straight.
