Democracy in India

“If somebody does not vote for me, I shall see that they Cry.”

They should All have Got up and Left; instead her toadies clapped.

What is wrong with Indian education system?

Junaid is Very right in saying that things are Not right with our Indian Education system.

Actually, I had been thinking that Tamil Nadu was very poor in this field, and that Kerala was doing better. Sad to note that things are not much different there, making this really an ‘Indian’ menace.

As we all know, it is not enough to merely note the fact. But Acknowledgement itself is a Great First step.

1. Let us call to Mind that Democracy is Keeping things in check. Once we have noted that the ‘system’ itself is faulty, we should go through to those ‘incharge’ of that.

2. This takes us to Demanding from the School Authorities themselves that we want our Children to ‘Understand’ what they are Speaking!

3. What they are going to say is: “We are under Pressure to ‘Complete’ the Course!” And this takes us back to the ‘system!’

It is Not enough if the syllabus in ‘Engineering’ colleges be reduced to 3-5 from 8-11. …What about the Children in the Formative stages?

Unless WE demand changes in this, it is Not going to happen, and Sufferers would be Our Children, the Future Generations.

Only this would bring about the Necessary Change.

I asked my kindergarten going brother, randomly a few questions.

Out of which a question was ‘How are you ?’

He said firmly, ‘Fine, Thank You’ without a blink.

അങ്ങനെ വെച്ചാൽ എന്താ? , I asked him next in our mother tongue, malayalam.

(Translation: What does that mean? )

He replied again innocently, much slower this time,

‘Fine , Thank You… it is…’

It took me a while to make him understand my question.

But he didn’t have an answer to it. He kept mum but kept looking at me with a smile and tongue out.

I call this the very fundamental problem with our Indian education system.

No Right to Protest = No Democracy

Today’s (Oct. 8, 2017) international news over NDTV says that the opposition leader of Russia, Ilya Yashin, along with his supporters, was arrested by the Russian police on the grounds that they were staging/organizing a protest for which permission had not been granted.

[ Once again the Brutality of the police in handling Citizens, in this case Ilya Yashin, is clearly seen in the photograph, from the internet, of course. I shall contrast this with the police’ behaviour with regard to criminals in another post. ]

Interestingly, and sadly, this is the second time in a mere 20 days that this opposition leader has been arrested, the first also being on the grounds of unpermitted protest.

From centuries before George Orwell, police, likened to dogs, have been brainwashed to obeying blindly; fed, housed and coddled – upto a bit, of course, – by tyrannical, despotic regimes.

That these police have to give one the permission even to protest is ludicrous in the extreme.

 • If I am not getting water in my area, I cannot protest.
 • If there is no electrical supply in my area, ditto.
 • If You do not want a nuclear plant in Your area, You cannot protest.
 • If Your highly arable land is being given to mega-business, You cannot protest. The list can go on and on. (All these things happen very often in India).

 • The police, along with the politicians, judges and officials, receive their salaries from the tax money of the Citizens.
 • If the Citizen says jump, they have to jump.
 • If the Citizen wants to protest, the police has to give him/them protection, so that no hidden member of ruling parties disrupt, much less cause harm to the protester(s).
 • That is their Only job.

It is Not the job of the police to decide whether or not the Citizen can/should protest.

If, When and As the Citizen is not given the Freedom to Protest, as is Most often the case, that means Freedom has disappeared from the Land.

The administration, in the form of politicians, judges and police and other officials alone are responsible for this. When this is the case, they should all be sacked ignominiously.

I started noticing the Excessive mining of sand from the rivers of TN just a few years ago. Thinking about it, understood how this has led to TN approaching a Desert-like situation.

I had thought that the Water situation would reach a Crisis in about 15 years. Reports say that this is going to happen in 2025, ie, just in 8 years. …Watch Nat Geo.

Our Carelessness in Observation, and Inaction, are what are leading to these terrible situations.

In my first picture, I have written that the Mother Monkey taught its young ones NOT to see Reality, as that is Painful, NOT to hear Reality, but rather to pay attention to propaganda, and NOT to Speak out, as that leads to Sedition charges! …And Monkeys Are living that way.

But the Lion-Mother taught Just the Opposite. And that is Why they are Lions.

We had not given attention to the Looting of Sand (by the Administration), and that has led to an Artificial Water Scarcity, the Death of Lakhs of Trees, No Farming even in the Delta belts, in TN.

Actually, even Justice, Freedom, etc, are in Peril. We just need to Notice, and to Act.

If there is Justice, …Everything is OK! But alas, there is No Justice; Anywhere in the World.

In India, the Sheer Delay in Justice, People in Jails Without their cases having been heard for Decades, judges delaying even the delivering of Verdicts, etc, show that there is NO JUSTICE.

People do not talk about it. judges should not think that this is out of respect. It is out of Fear, which is a Shame. Only judges can change this situation.

The Tamil Nadu police has become Notorious for its Excesses during the last few years, particularly during the current Regime, that of the ADMK party.

Irom Sharmila had fasted for 16 Years (!), for the Repeal of the AFSPA, the Armed Forces Special Powers Act, through which Excesses had been committed, even unto Rape of Civilians by the Army. (Who will speak about these, except the few like Yesudas?) …These did.

Women in the North East of India, protested thus.

Hoisting of the Flag and Military March-pasts do not make it a Republic or a Democracy. The granting of the Kachatheevu Island to Lanka, the Tasmac wine shops, the Looting of Sand, all show that what is happening is Politics, Not Democracy.

Demonocracy in Tamil Nadu

One party, let us call it A, is taken on holidays, Wine, (Women not?) and Song thrown in for entertainment for some 15 days, kept there under lock and key, mind You, And brought back like accused-being-taken-to-court by the ever faithful henchdogs the police, and…

Wait. Let me take a breath. And anyway the scene shifts to the holy (so called) grounds of the Assembly.

The Speaker, who speaks for party A, has been told what to do. And he does everything, keeping well within the books. Oh, You can rape Lady Democracy while keeping everything within Rules, You know that.

Party A plays the Game of Kick Me. And party D, infantile enough, falls into the trap. Now the Speaker gets the chance the throw them all out.

They don’t worry that the Opposition is totally Absent in the House. Why break our pretty little heads over small matters like that? Take a vote of… Confidence! Yes! And come out winning, at least with numbers.

And the people of Tamil Nadu are Well satisfied. For them the main game is Jallikkattu, anyway.

RIP, Democracy. …But had she not died a long time ago? 😦

I wanted to keep this short.

You Can Ask me questions, and I promise that I will tell You NO lies.

Democracy, Communism, Socialism, et al.

My friend over Facebook, good Dennis Wells shared this link, which says that Donald Trump hires a Mennonite Auto harp player to perform at his inauguration, Many others having Refused, at the Princely sum of… $50! Hahaha!

Trump Manages to Convince Mennonite Autoharp Player to Perform at Inauguration

After going through the post, and similar ones in that site, it dawned on me that the Daily Bonnet was created to Pull Our Collective Legs. But in any case Dennis’ post got me thinking and inspired this article!

Yet another post, this one from the BBC, said this, – which is very similar to the previous ones in that We get: ‘America’s next president is struggling to find musicians to perform at his swearing in ceremony on 20 January,’ from multiple and varied sources. Here is BBC’s report:

And Rebecca Ferguson tweeted she would “graciously accept” the invitation from the American president-elect if she can perform Strange Fruit!

So what is Great about Rebecca Ferguson choosing Strange Fruit?

Well, Evidently Rebecca Ferguson is Not… Black. Swedish by birth, and looking Very White in Wiki’s page on her, and all that. And Strange Fruit is All about Blacks, so to say.

I find the Poem Impressive enough for me to want to Share it with You All:

Southern trees bear a Strange Fruit
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root
Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees

Pastoral scene of the gallant south
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth
Scent of magnolias, sweet and fresh
Then the sudden smell of burning flesh

Here is fruit for the crows to pluck
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck
For the sun to rot, for the trees to drop
Here is a strange and bitter crop.

More about this in this link, if You are interested:

I have the Bad Habit of Not paying too much attention to things that do not concern me Directly. Trump’s election speeches is one of them. Yet I Do have the Impression that he does not Exactly Love the Black people of America. Correct me if I am wrong.

This being the situation, for a White Woman to sing a song about the Black People, In the Face of one who had created Problems in this regard, is Nothing Short of Amazing!

Viva la Rebecca Ferguson, and Viva la Democracy!

ESPN FILMS is offering some Really Good pieces on Sports (History). As part of it, watched their piece on Chile winning the FIFA world cup during Pinochet‘s era.

Chile has Declared Pinochet ‘Most Violent Criminal Ruler‘ in (their) History. And according to the ESPN FILMS, …the US had put him in place, (and must have supported him for him to remain in power for his 17 years of Tyrannic rule).

This Shocking Fact about the US is presented by the ESPN which is owned by Disney and co, in… where else but the US!

I call this too… Viva la Democracy.

Before I proceed, let me Forcefully say that this post is Not in Praise of the US, but of Democracy.

So Now to a little on good old

Poor Ole Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn had wanted to publish his book in ‘Praise’ of the communist regime, but could do that Only Out of his country.

Google search for russia’s Siberian camps show Nice pastures, Well dressed ‘prisoners,’ all jolly good.

I forget where I had read this, which went, from my memory, about a person travelling by train through the Siberian region, the train stopping somewhere en route, and people coming up to the coaches begging. The person thought he saw one of the women having the darkest coloured dress on, only to notice on careful inspection that She was Stark Naked, and the dark colour was Coal Dust.

putin, having passed through the ranks of the Richest men in the world, has further emphasised his ‘Smallness’ by doing away with dissidents.

Here is Mikhail Khodorkovsky, once Russia’s Richest man, now in jail, courtesy good old Puny putin.

More on Khodorkovsky at this link:

I had given a search in good old Google for ‘man who opposed putin.’ Please note: It was man, singular. But ever faithful Google gave ‘About 58,00,000 results (0.54 seconds).’

Among them, We have:

Assassination of Boris Nemtsov – Wikipedia

The assassination of Boris Nemtsov, a Russian statesman and politician opposed to the government of Vladimir Putin, happened in central …. According to Russian media another manblew himself up with a hand grenade in Grozny when …

(Copied and pasted from the search results).

Litvinenko: Not first Putin critic to end up dead – CNN.com

Jan 20, 2016 – The business magnate backed an opposition party and accused Putin of … In January 2009, a masked man shot and killed Markelov, …

(Again copied and pasted from the search results). And,

Mar 3, 2015 – Boris Nemtsov is the latest in a long line of opposition figures who have died …

(Same as the above two).

Given all that, I just simply cannot understand just How any Freedom-loving being can support communism. They must be people who live their lives from their armchairs, either with No touch with Reality or No Concern for reality.

A lot of the outrage occurred over one Dr. Ravi‘s death in Karnataka in India. The IAS official was seen as an upright officer who had been taking on powerful corporate lobbies. There have been large protests over his death.

But the CBI, (central bureau of investigations), a government agency, has declared that his death was by suicide.

But the pictures above and below show how the Country saw that.

Evidently, as the Toon below says, You have to Prove that You were Stabbed in the Back.

After all, Just Where IS the Proof, Jack? The whole system works on ‘Proof.’ The Tiger or the Dog has to Prove that it was Kicked.*

The System will Rape, and the Citizen has to prove to the system that it raped him.

It is not that the so called justice system works like shit in India. …The might of the government, ably aided and supported in these negative instances by the judiciary and the ever Servile police force, are quick to slap cases and labels of Sedition, Anti-Nationalism, and what not to and on anybody and everybody who Objects.

We have a powerful example of this from some decades ago, this time no ‘cases,’ just Action, on no less than Kishore Kumar, a rather Famous (background) of the Hindi movie world of yesteryears.

“During the Indian Emergency (1975–1977), Sanjay Gandhi asked Kishore Kumar to sing for an Indian National Congress rally in Mumbai. An outspoken critic of Indira Gandhi during the emergency, Kumar refused.

As a result, Information & Broadcasting minister Vidya Charan Shukla put an unofficial ban on playing Kishore Kumar songs on state broadcasters All India Radio and Doordarshan from 4 May 1976 till the end of Emergency.”

From the article:

I have already written how Uday Kumar, the Anti-Nuclear voice of India, had, at one time, 380 cases slapped against him, and still have about 150 of them on him, None of which the govt (agencies) can prove.

SP Udayakumar

This ‘Habit’ of harassing Opposing voices by False cases has become the ‘Culture’ of Indian politics. As happens with Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, and his team. Shame.

Arvind-Kejriwal-protest-by-Dijeshwar-Singh police man laughs_2

This is how the cheap, good for nothing police, treat one of the Greatest sons of India, with Smiles on their faces.

Your Humble Servant, Yours Truly, knows from personal experience that you cannot (effectively) criticise the government. Oh, You can ‘bark’ in and from the shadows. …The things I have written against the Looting of River (and Thorium) Sands in Tamil Nadu in the Internet cannot be replicated in Hard copy. The printers just Refuse to print my posts of that type, unless watered down to Meaninglessness.

Meaning, all thereby, that You cannot even Criticise the government in India (like russia and china – remember Tiananmen square?), and very much unlike the States!

Does it mean I want to leave my India and to move out and settle in the States? Not in Your life.

So, Capitalism, Communism, Socialism, they are all just words, and Pretty Useless ones.

Democracy does provide Us with a(n) (Absolutely Non-violent) Weapon, of being able to Speak out and Changing things. It is for Us to Exercise this Right or Be Ready to Lose All.

* People will come forward to offer Proofs for a Dog, Tiger or any other Animal, but for Humans? Nah. Haha. 😦

Democracy Simplified!

I like to give people, even those I meet on the streets and in buses, etc, little Booklets. Did I tell You that I had been working on an 8-page one, for over two months, but which was not coming along to my satisfaction? I stopped working on that project for now, as I seem to have found a palm-sized answer!

This is a little ‘Badge-like’ thing I have prepared, which I shall be wearing on my kurta (the long, top garment of the men of Punjab), as well as distribute to those interested:

The photograph is of Our leader, Mr. Udayakumar, of Pacchai Thamizhagam Katchi. The words speak, based on the little picture in the middle, of taking care of Our Life, Resources and the Future, Without Burning or Breaking anything!

These last two allude to the Infamous practice of politicians getting their followers to Burn things, even to the point of Live college students inside buses, and breaking things up at the drop of a hat.

The three girls who had been Burnt Alive by followers of TN chief minister jayalalitha, protesting her arrest.

Typical political culture.

I will put up my favourite little picture again:

Let Us decide in Own minds to Stand Up to Bullying (politics today seems Nothing Else!), Arrogance, Injustice and all that. The Future of Our Children Demands that.

This Standing Up for the Way want Our Country to go is Democracy.

A Life Worth Living, the BCCI, the Judiciary and Salt

Is a Life Without Justice Worth Living?

Just Yesterday, met a Grand Old man of 83, Mr. Poulose, whose leg got broken recently in a traffic accident. He is in Severe pain, and the doctors told him that medication would bring relief for only a certain period of time, and if he wanted to go for it, the medications themselves would cause side effects. The Long and Short of it, – Mr. Poulose decided to face the pain, and is bearing it without Medication.

Right this fine morning, as I switch on the TV just to know what is new, find that the BCCI (Board of Cricket Control in India, means the ones who control all the money from the TV rights and the ticket sales!!!) are Not going to Implement the recommendations of the Lodha Panel (one under a judge of that name, investigating affairs). For those interested: <http://sports.ndtv.com/news/bcci-maintains-stance-on-lodha-panel-recommendations-cricket-1474640>

Maybe the BCCI is not sharing enough of the profits with…

What I mean to say is, The courts hold their collective breaths, let out their Tongues(!), and go After Cricket. …But Umpteen Women getting Raped, Gang Rapes, Acid Throwing, Declining Farming, Farmer’s Suicides, etc, can go hang!!! A Life Without True Justice. Worth Living?

Graphic by Screen Capture.

The courts think they can Control the Citizens merely by Fear of ‘Contempt of court.’

The More Fool he who calls Mere judges as ‘Justices.’ Evidently shows these fellows have No Idea of what Justice is.

We live in Miserable times when We, the Citizens, have to Pussy-foot around when You want to say something about the Situation of Justice in the Country (Thousands and Thousands of People languishing in Jails Without Hearing for 20 Years and More – The First Crime of the courts). Or against politicians.

Dogs of fellows can Rape a Minor and Get bail and Get By; …but You wonder about the Health of (certain) politicos, and behold, You find Special cells formed just to keep watch on this to put You behind bars for this! A Life Worth Living?

But things and situations will Not change by Pussy-footing around. Which is Precisely why they Allow just that! As soon as the Thing called ‘Pussy-footing around’ comes into being, it Shows that it is A Situation of Slavery. Unsaid. Undeclared. Unspoken. Not Even Allowed to be Uttered.

But that is Not a Life Worth Living. And Particularly in a land like India, politicos and judges will have to remember that People will Not Accept Slavery, of Any kind. Indian History is Too Full of Risings for Freedom.

The Famed Rani Lakshmi Bai of Jhansi, – ‘one of the leading figures of the Indian Rebellion of 1857 and became for Indian nationalists a symbol of resistance to the British Raj‘. Quote from Wikipedia. Graphics, above and below, from the Internet.

Veerappaandia Kattabomman, ‘an 18th-century chieftain in Tamil Nadu, India, who waged a war against the British East India Company‘. This Quote (edited) also from Wikipedia. The photograph actually shows a famed Tamilian actor, Shivaji Ganesan, who had very successfully portrayed the king.

judges, instead of playing Second Fiddle to politicos, would do well to Just Ask their Very Children What they think about the judicial system and state of Justice in this Great Country. …Actually, the ONLY Judge, (see, I use a Capital for this Judge!) who is on the Lips of Tamilians is Judge Michael D’Cunha, shown below. ALL other so called judges are people Nobody cares for, nor remembers.

Judge Michael D'Cunha

Salt? I know only two languages besides some English. And in Both the Indian languages, (am sure it is there in others too!), the word Salt is considered Very Important. As in:

नमक -हराम !

The word, Namak Haraam, signifies one who has Betrayed Great Trust. And the Very Exact Same sentiment occurs in Tamil, as in:

உப்புக்கு துரோகம் !

English puts it slightly Differently, as in: Not Worth his Salt.

judges are asked to examine their Diet. Maybe because of all the above they totally Eschew the product. If so, they are advised to add it. Because, Tamil says:

உப்பில்லாத பண்டம் குப்பையிலே !

[ The Garbage is the Only place for anything without Salt! ]

Who will bell the Cat?

Graphic from the Internet

The Cat Has to be ‘Belled,’ (there, perhaps I have created a New Verb!). And Not Everybody will Shirk from it. We know that they system jails You at the drop of a hat. That the police know hundred of ways and Methods of Torture without leaving a Mark. And that Too many Deaths are occurring in police custody. That Sedition, and ‘Burning/Insulting the Flag’ kind of False charges are hoisted All Too Easily.

But like Mr. Poulose, there are People who are Ready to Endure all that.

Pussy-footing around Accomplishes Nothing. The Biggest Heap of Fuel will not Cook Meal. It is Fire that does that. And All Combustible materials have an ‘Ignition Temperature.’ Unless things, and People, are brought to a Certain ‘point,’ Nothing is going to be done. …But let me say it again, My Revolution is an Absolutely Non-Violent one. The Graphic below, also from the Internet, says it all, and says it very well:

Democracy, Non-Violent Revolution

And I say it again, A Life Without Justice, is Not Worth Living.

Come On! Add Your Voice!

India’s Defence Minister wants to ‘Teach’ a Citizen a Lesson

Is India lacking in Judicial Power? I Openly and Frankly say that the so called ‘justice department‘ is No More than the ‘Law department,’ as Rightly called that in Hindi, namely, ‘Kanoon vibhag.’ This so called justice department, keeping Thousands for Over Twenty years in Custody without even a Hearing, is Well in the hands of Ruling Party. Go On, Arrest me.

Anyway, even the administration (government) seems to think so, – that is, The justice department is of , hmm, No Use, – it would seem. Which is Why they don’t bother to file charges when they ‘think’ somebody has killed a cow, or somebody has said something anti-national. They have to take steps.

India’s Defence Minister, no less, one #parrikar, has said that People like Aamir Khan should be taught a lesson.

I think this harks back to the time and statement of Aamir, where he had said that his Wife did not feel Safe (in India). Should he Not have said that? What he or she had felt? Actually, A LARGE MAJORITY do not feel Safe in India, which is Why they do not Open their Mouths. Even on the Internet, even in the Blogosphere! Haha! How can they?000 hindu intolerance www.asianews.it

Think also of the Destruction of the Babri Masjid. I am not aware that Muslims destroyed Any major Temple (of the Hindus) in these times. We are speaking of India, of course.

Putting Aamir and parrikar on the scales, parrikar is a Mere politico, whereas Aamir has contributed Much for Positive Changes in the Mentality of the People.

All that being so, the anchor of @IndiaToday TV channel, reiterating what #parrikar had said, has blurted: “#parrikar has merely said that the people do not like Aamir.”

Merely. And if a group of people do not like somebody or something, the administration will do what the ‘people’ want. Frankly, Large groups, like 25,000 asking the Kudankulam Nuclear plant to be shut down, or for Liquor shops near Schools and Hospitals to be closed down in Tamil Nadu, Did Not Work!

I fired off some tweets on that, as under:

1. ‪#‎parrikar‬ seems to have given the explanation that ‘people did not like’ what ‪#‎AamirKhan‬ said, did, whatever. In that case, (cont)

2. I Not liking #parrikar, would it be Ok for me to get a group of people by my side, and then say that #parrikar should be taught a lesson?

3. #parrikar: Any person with Half a Brain knows govt can Track all things. But a Citizen cannot live in Fear. I refuse to live in Fear.

4. Not only #parrikar, @IndiaToday seems to agree that If people do not like, they can put their Foot in their Mouth. It THAT govt’s work?

5. ‪#‎Democracy‬ Actually means Opinion of the Majority, WITHOUT HARM TO THE MINORITY. After all We Are ONE COUNTRY, #parrikar, @IndiaToday.
