Fire in the Belly

Speak Out on Social Issues!

Anybody with No Fire in the Belly is an Absolutely Mediocre person.

Fire in Belly

A word came to my Mind: “NO-Christian.”

C. S. Lewis had used the word ‘Mere Christianity,’ to Great Effect. Thus We can say that there are Mere Christians.

Just recently, pope francis had come out saying that ‘Weapons manufacturers are Not Christians.’ That was Really Great. But, I still use small case for even this pope, because he has not exhibited ‘Fire in the Belly.’ He speaks a few Effective words here and there, and then goes to Sleep.

Any way, that was what made me think of the words NO-Christian.

St. Paul had Plenty of Fire in the Belly. Once he even said, ‘May you fellows become Eunuchs.’ (Galatians 5:12). He did not put it like that, of course. What he wrote exactly was: “I would they were even cut off which trouble you,” (KJV), and meant: ‘May the Knife Slip.’ And that happening, when a Circumcision is taking place, leads to Castration.

John the Baptist had that. Fire in the Belly, I mean.

John the Baptist

John spoke like this Not Just with the People. He thundered in front of kings too. The king in question was Living with his Own Sister. Nobody seemed to be bothered about it. Or more properly, Nobody had Enough Fire in the Belly to Speak Up. John did. And Lost his head. Literally. …He was Beheaded for it.

Particularly in light of the Vyaapam Scam and the Many Deaths that has led to, and on reading that John the Baptist lost his head, We might decide to play it safe.

There was a man called Dale Carnegie, famous for his Wonderful books: Art of Public Speaking, How to Win Friends and Influence People, How to Stop The Worrying and Start Living, etc.

Dale Carnegie

He had once written something like: “Knock a man Down, and then listen to his Speak.” Even the Shyest would Most probably speak up.

Frequently, We Speak up Only when We have been knocked down, or When Something has happened to Members of Our Own Family. But Since it is Our habit Not to Speak out, We find that Nobody speaks up for Us.

Here are a few Beautiful Quotes on the Matter of Fire in the Belly:

Super Human Strength

And if you are the Pope, ROAR!

Satisfied with Mediocrity 2

Satisfied with Mediocrity? Oh, Yes, We are.

This time, let me (again!) take the case of the Indian Boxer, Sarita Devi. This lady has had to Suffer Both Injury and Insult, and that from Sanctimonious So-and-So’s, the AIBA. Not only are its judges corrupt, they defend these corrupt judges, and penalize those who dare question them.

Our Mediocrity comes here: AIBA has threatened to Ban Sarita Devi from Boxing events for Life, but have now, very ‘kindly,’ (remember, it is within inverted commas!), banned her just for a year. Most people are heaving a sigh of relief at this, that the Lady Boxer can at least participate at the next event in South America.

That is Sarita Devi in the Blue, Bashing away at her opponent All through the Match. And the AIBA declared the korean the winner! Image from Internet.

What Should be happening is to question and Challenge AIBA on its Absolutely Disgusting, Unjust and Corrupt decision against her. This should be followed by Dis-Recognizing the AIBA.

For Most of Us, Half Victories are Enough. Mediocrity.

(We) Christians are going to Celebrate Christmas, once again, of course. Cakes ordered or baked, Clothes bought, Carols sung. But Is Christ Really asking us to sing Him Lullabies?

What happened to Verses like: ” Zeal for Your House Consumes me.” (Psalm 119:139, and 69:9, my own translation. The JB comes closest to mine, it uses the word ‘Devours,’ instead of my ‘Consumes.’).

How many of Us “Hunger and Thirst for What is Right,” (Matthew 5:6, JB). Are We Sure We understand the meaning of ‘Hunger and Thirst‘?

Hungering and Thirsting for Righteousness means Fighting for Justice, and Fighting Against Injustice. If We want to fight injustices Just against Ourselves, then… Watch Out! This is what Christ Jesus says: “Why should God Reward You if You Love Only the people who love You?” Matthew 5:46, TEV.

Though I Simply Love the ‘Silent Night,’ Singing words like: ‘Son of God, Loves Pure Light,’ Do NOT Delight His Heart as much as Our Fighting for a Better World. Not by a Long Chalk.

Of Course, No Need to Believe me. We can find out Who is Right Only After We Die.

Satisfied with Mediocrity 1

This post begins with the word Mediocrity, and Ends with the word: ‘Excellence.’

Practically Everybody knows that the Lindt cafe incident, after all that 13-14 (or was it 17?) hour long high drama, has ended. They had even Identified the hostage taker. He was killed along with Two of the Hostages.

WHY is Yesudas writing things We already know? The key words in the above paragraph are: ‘Along with Two of the Hostages.’ We have taken their Death As a Matter of course.

Comparatively, the Casualties at the Entebbe, which had been really Years ago, (meaning: Not so-developed technology), were of a lesser magnitude. And the Counter attack had been mounted across Countries, not in one’s own land.

I still wonder Why they had not taken out the gunman, when he could be captured on Camera, as in the graphic. It might be said that it is easy for me for write these things from the distance, from my computer, yet I say it: A Casual attitude, Mediocrity. Running around and looking busy maketh Not for Excellence. Maybe Australia was not prepared for Hostage crises.

“Whatever is Admirable–if anything is Excellent or Praiseworthy…” This quote from Philippians 4:8 (in NIV), ends with the words: ‘think about such things.’ May be that is what We do, ‘think about such things.’ And We are Satisfied. Do We Really Not know that this is No Satisfaction??? What We Should Really be doing is: ‘Strive for Excellence.’ It is a Most Satisfying Pursuit. And let us remember that Striving is Not merely Trying.

Of course, there is No such thing as ‘Perfection’ for Us, Human beings. What We Should Strive for is Excellence. And Excellence is achieved Only after suffering Bone-Breaking Tiredness, and Grey Hairs before one’s age.

If I may have Your Indulgence, Wait, there is More, in the Next post.
