Baby, Squirrel, Trust

Long ago I learnt the High Value of Approachability! To be Non-Threatening in Our Looks, Words and Gestures. That alone stands as the Foundation for Trust. …Not that I have succeeded always, Alas!

But this Baby gets Full Marks with this Squirrel!

Psalm 23:6a

[ Posted under Relevant Biblical verses ]

Surely, Only Goodness and Kindness, Shall follow me, All the days of my life.’

That is Psalm 23:6a, and my own translation.

If We pay attention to the words that are underlined, We notice that they call for Astonishing things! They also call for Trust, and if We do that, We will find that they are Fact Indeed! Dhyaan helps Us in this Realization.

But this is part of God’s Word. And in my own humble way, I Attest that they are True, and that I have found them to be True in my life.

On Trust

Once, a Famous Retreat Preacher in the North named Fr. Jim Borst and I were travelling by train. We were in one of what are called those ‘Super Fast’ trains of India, this one from somewhere in the North East to Delhi, if I remember rightly.

The point is that the place where We were to alight was Not a scheduled Stop, and Fr. Borst knew this! But when I mentioned this to him, he calmly replied: “It Will Stop.”

India, and particularly places like Bihar, have become Notorious for ‘Chain Pullings.’ These are opportunities provided by the Railways to Us to Stop trains in case of emergencies. Once my own father had nearly got left out when he had got down to buy some eats. We had pulled the chain as the train started moving and he got in.

to stop train...

It is supposed to be used in situations like these. This particular one, I suspect, is a still from some movie! But it gives You the idea. But the fellow is doing it wrong. Either he thinks she can run faster than the train and catch up, or the idea of pulling the chain has not entered his, or any of the other passengers’ heads.

But it is quite often used by ‘local’ passengers to get down where they want, – at times near their villages Miles from any station! – and by vendors and their companions!

Nowadays the Railway is doing away with this system altogether, but when/where they still exist, the pulling of the chain creates a partial vacuum, creating a drag for the locomotive, and to save power, the driver pulls the main brakes, (those who pulled the chain have their way), the vacuum is restored by flipping a lever at the end of the coach, and the train starts again. But train drivers many a time allow the train to go on for many a mile even though it costs more power, in order to discourage the ungodly. So Fr. Borst could not be Sure that the train would stop where We needed it to!

But it happened. Some fellows did pull the chain, the train stopped at the station where We needed to get down, and taking advantage, We alighted.

For me, it was a Great Lesson in Trust.

Others I have admired in this regard are St. John Bosco, who kept a house for Poor Boys, himself with No income, and Mother Teresa.

I had YEARNED to have Trust like theirs. But I Literally lived in Trembling and Fear. I was taking care of about 40 people at that time, as seen partially below, and many a time, I would have Only about Rupees 20 in my cash box!

That was when I started practising my Dhyaan, this time with the Intention of experiencing His Providence, and for me to Learn to Trust. It is a literal Miracle that We Never had to eat Our Rice without Pulses and Vegetables! Not to mention the Other needs. To see How to do Dhyaan, and How to become Steeped in Trust, etc, please click here.

The Good Lord WANTS to Shower His Blessings on Us. We are the ones who Block His Grace. …On this in another post.

One thing I consider a Negative in Our prayers is that

  • We are Constantly Asking,
  • Asking for Things,
  • Asking them for Ourselves (Alone), and
  • Constantly Asking!

As I have said, if We Trust, We Shall Not Repeat those Requests! Ok, No more than Once in a Day! 🙂

We cannot say to God: ‘YOU have created me. Now it is YOUR responsibility to keep me in luxury.’ Through the centuries, people have found that this does not work.

The Most Famous example that comes to mind is that of the Lord telling Moses: ‘Lift up your stick and hold it over the sea.’ Exodus 14:16.

What We have to note is that Moses too had expected the Lord to do Everything, and had been seemingly Crying out to the Lord (praying). It was then that the Lord spoke those words to him.

Again, ‘Moses held out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back…’ Exodus 14:21. We have to do our bit, and then the Lord makes it happen.

Moses parts the red sea

Trust does not mean going with Our Eyes closed, because HE gave Us Eyes! And Brains. We are supposed to Use them to the Full. When We have done All We can, to Our Fullest ability, and yet have not achieved, Then We can and should relax, and leave things to Him.

God is Nor running a Grocery shop where we can give us lists and expect them to be fulfilled, Nor is He our Baby Sitter, running around behind us when we want to run on walls.

There is, after all, the thing called ‘Fools rushing in where Angels fear to tread.’ Even the Most Able soldier, the highest trained Spy, does not Rush in without having been briefed or reconnoitring the area. But what do We find?

The heroine of the movie Taken goes on a spree, her mother does not mind. …And elsewhere in another movie the girl goes for a party, is given drugs and raped. But the point is that the girl goes upon the invitation of casual acquaintances. This is NOT Trust, but Stupidity. If anybody wants to say these things happen only in movies, then…

I have not had the ‘Faith that moves mountains,’ or the ‘Faith that passes understanding,’ or, least of all, ‘The Gift of Faith,’ etc. Faith I have had, and my Faith has Grown.

Only when the human being Constantly Sees God’s Presence, His Actions and His Support in his life, does his Faith become Trust. That has happened to me.

I have only had the Tenacity and Persistence to Stay in my Dhyaan. And that is what brought me to Trust. The experiences of His Goodness take place in a Million ways for Each and Every one of Us. But We are talking of Experience, with a Capital E.

These Experiences are available to Everybody. I Wish You All the Experience of Trust! 🙂

PS: Though this is a subject on which I have spoken much, as such have had the material, the inspiration, the ‘push,’ as it were, to make a post of it came from some comments fellow blogger, the already mentioned Madelyn Griffith-Haynie, as in her <addandsomuchmore.com/> …again!

This refers You to my previous post, 3 Words that Changed my Life!

Where Madelyn had written that ‘People are desperate for answers,’ I have Answers. I am Not desperately searching for answers; I am not even searching for them! I have Answers. And they are Hard Earned ones.

But my Answers are Not of the kind that TV media expects, wherein the Anchor ‘forms’ his questions in about 20 sentences, and Very kindly gives the Others 15 Seconds to respond. The questions and answers referred to here deal with Life. As such the Answers are Deep.pwen

You can choose either pic! Haha! The first one is from the Internet. As You see, Humour, when possible, is an Invariable and Necessary part of my Answers! 🙂

Sadly, as Madelyn has said, Others Charge heavily for these Answers, and since I offer it Free, people tend to Undervalue mine. But Undervaluing my Answers shall not be my Loss. 🙂

Happy Answers to You!

3 Words that Changed my Life!

This is Again one of my Most Important posts.

I have to Thank ‘Madelyn Griffith-Haynie’ (reference at the end of this post) for getting me going on this article. In our conversations, she had written: ‘People are desperate for answers.’

But What are the Questions? …I have not met Anybody who does not want Love, Happiness and Peace, and whatever they might say, finally, after all the running around and exhausting themselves, these three things are what they are searching for. So the question is: How to get Love, Happiness and Peace?

Image from the Internet.

Children are the Perfect example of these gifts. This Child Feels Loved, He is Showing his Love., Feels no threats or worries., and Is Happy!

I got a Healthy amount of Love, Happiness and Peace by the Practice of:

Love, Forgiveness and Trust.

These are the Three words that changed my life. And though these are common words, I learnt their depth from Christian Teachings. To do Justice to these Three words, I would need to talk for about 8 hours on each of them, which I have done many a time, to Great Satisfaction all around. But here, it shall be Very short.

Love, Forgiveness and Trust are words to be Experienced and Practised. All of us already understand what is meant by them. So it is Not understanding We are after!

Love has to be seen from Two aspects.

  • One is the Conviction that We are Loved, and
  • Secondly, To Be Loving Persons.

How Loved do we Feel? We have to be even BRUTALLY HONEST when dealing with these questions. No Use in Fooling around. After all, when We answer these questions, We are answering to ourselves, Nobody else.

…Whatever the Situation, …There IS Love. It might be Very, Very Hidden. But it IS there. That is what takes me all those hours to show!

I have already shared How being Rejected, and Feeling Rejected, was my Bane. Having been able to overcome that, Today I place the level of my Being Loved, my level of Loving Others, my Peace and Happiness at 80%. (I like to go by numbers). Most people stand at 30%. I speak as a Guru.

People seem to think that Loving, as a Verb, is all about Loving Oneself. That is Dog Manure. Any and Every fool is loving himself. Christ said: “Love One Another as I have loved You.” (John 13:34). He did NOT say: ‘Love yourself more.’ So-called preachers and teachers had better pay goodly attention to this.

Passion-of-the-Christ e

We All come back home Tired. That is How much We work for ourselves and ours. Just HOW much have we worked for Others? For the Good of Others, without any profit to ourselves? How much time, effort and money have we given and spent on this? …No Pain, No Gain, my Friends. Real Love entails Suffering.

Jesus Died for Us. Have We even Sweated for Others? Unknown persons?

If We have Loved (Others), Love Comes Back to Us. Otherwise, The ‘Desperate Search for Answers’ Continues.

Forgiveness is Absolutely Necessary if We are to have Peace. I have an 8,000+ word article, (as You know, it will be Very Readable!), which can and should be read at leisure. Particularly Those who are Searching for Peace will find this Satisfying. It is already uploaded; I have to go through it again, before publishing. And its title is: Forgiveness.

Here are the Salient points:

  • Not having Forgiven, Lack of Forgiveness – in other words, leads to many Diseases, particularly pertaining to the Respiratory track and organs.
  • We are Supposed to Forgive Only the Hurts caused by others. Forgiving Sin is God’s business, NOT ours.
  • We Forgive others Whether they ask for it or not. We Forgive even those who have passed away.
  • We Specifically Use the Words, ‘I Forgive You.’ (We will find out just How difficult this is!) And We are NOT supposed to tell it to them to their face.
  • We have to Wish the person who has Hurt us, Every Well Wishes. If We do not wish the person Well, We have Not Forgiven.
  • We Forgive for Anything and Everything. Rape, Murder… (Is there anything bigger than these?) And As many times as it might have happened. If it happens again, We Forgive Again.

My Bane, as I have said, had been Anger, and anger starts with Irritability. I had Plenty of this too.

  • When I find the net ever-so-slow, though I have paid a goodly Rs. 948 for 28 days to Mr. Airtel for it, (We are informed that India ranks 123rd in the world in internet speed! Yuck), [ PS: This is Old stuff, from years back. ]
  • When I find Squirrels and RATS running in what I can call my Attic, endangering my flimsy ceiling,
  • When Monkeys jump about with glee and abandon On the Tiles, shaking their placement and making the roof leak,

Have I not enough reasons to be Irritable? But that I am Not! I must admit that I noticed this myself, with a Lot of Thankfulness and Satisfaction and Surprise!

And I have reason to Worry, if not to be Anxious. I have 3 bank accounts, (one of them in the name of the Ashram), with a total savings of Rs. 8811.74. Even in an emergency, I can draw out only about Rs. 5,800, as a thousand has to be kept in the account as per their rules. And I have about a Thousand in my Cash Box, and 3 Thousand in Mad Money. [PS: Now I have closed down the Ashram account. ]

And I have, coming up, my Internet and Phone Recharges which will come to a Thousand, about 400 rupees for the electricity bill, And, about 2,000 rupees in promised help as expenses!

I subsist on Donations, and the Good Lord has seen Fit to bring it down to Rs. 3,700 this month.

YET I am at Peace. I Sleep Soundly, I am able to Enjoy my Food, and have No Sicknesses. This comes by Trust. I am Convinced, to the point where I would like to say ‘I KNOW,’ my Father would send me Whatever is necessary, where and when necessary.

Trust means Not Even Repeating what You have Asked the Lord.

Trust means Accepting, with the Firmest Determination, that

  • (God) The Father Knows what He is doing,
  • I am Safe in His Hands, and that
  • He is doing What is Best for me.

So Trust is Needed in what makes us Irritable, and what causes us Worry.

It is a matter, as I said, of Realization, and Not mere understanding. This comes only with Dhyaan. For Children, of course, it is Instinctual!

Happy Answers to You!

For a REALLY Happy New Year

A Balancing Dog!

dog balancing

Came across this picture in Facebook just today.

Much to Appreciate in this. The Dog’s sheer Skill in Balancing like this. It’s Courage. Even its Trust in its master who must have trained him for a long time for this.

But for me, it is Never enough just to give one ‘like’ or something and to pass on.

We know Nothing about the owner of this Dog. Was he a Waster when he was Young? Or was he genuinely poor, so that he could not study and do better? …Whatever it is, today he is a person who has to resort to tricks like these to live. One of the Have-Nots.

We, those who Have, Money and Means, Talents, Education, Computers and Computer Knowledge, etc, also have a RESPONSIBILITY towards those Have-Nots. THAT would be Love.

There is also something I do Not like in this picture.

How Make Happiness Permanent!

I Already have a post on ‘The Way to Happiness!‘ This present post will help Us Imbibe, Personalise and Make Our Learning and Particularly its Effect, PERMANENT. And not just Happiness, but that of Love and Trust.

And it is Not only the Experience of Happiness that has to be Made Permanent. Those of being Loved, and Trust has to be made Stable too! The same method works for all of these.

Named my blog as Love, Happiness and Peace. And Most of the time have been writing on Current Affairs! But these have a Direct connection with the Subject of the blog! Am presenting today some thoughts on How We can Achieve Happiness.

I have been through thick and thin, (Who hasn’t?). If, in the Rainbow, Red is to be the Best, and Violet the worst, I have been through Violets too, many times, for long durations. In all this, Came to Understand that God Really Loves Us.

Achieving Happiness would require Many things. It does not come by waving some Magic Wand. If there is a Problem like Lack of Money, Discord in the Family, Lack of Internal Peace, etc, all those have to be Addressed as far as possible.

This post will be of Particular Use for those Who have Money, Things, and People Around them, yet feel a Vacuum in their Hearts.

Even if You do not Believe in God, Start by saying, ‘It is said that You are Love. That You want to Us give Peace and Happiness and Blessings and all that. If You are there, let me Experience them.’

Next, Start saying this verse from the Bible: [Note: Saying this does Not make You a Christian!]

Surely, Only Goodness and Kindness, Shall follow me, All the days of my life.’

That is Psalm 23:6a, and my own translation.

You are supposed to say this Repeatedly, Whenever You have the time and the opportunity. Say it As many times as Possible in a day! Say it when You have difficulty in sleeping, as You are walking, waiting, etc, etc.

I would ask You to keep at this for at least a goodly Three months. Try to say it with Emphasis on the Underlined words. You do not have to say them Aloud.

Let HIM explain Why He gave Us verses like these. By Making You Experience those Good things.

Do Not think the Mind will Not go off on those Tangents. It is Famous for going round and round its favourite topics! Thoughts will arise in Your head, saying:

  • ‘What foolish thing have You started?’
  • ‘Do Your Really think that All those supposed things are going to happen Definitely? You are saying ‘Surely.’
  • ”Only’ Good things are going to happen? Is it even possible on Earth? Why are You wasting time after seeing this one word?’
  • ”All’ the days of Your life? No Breaks? Hahaha,’ and all that.

The suggested words, if Uttered with Love and Reverence, will Calm Your Mind, even Silence Your Mind. The Brain Cannot Multi-task! That is why they say Do not Talk on the Cell Phone while You are Driving! And other things like that.

We can do Only One thing at a Time. If We have told ourselves to just keep Pronouncing these words, and Keep our Attention on Pronouncing them, then our Famous Subconscious is Not able to bring up its subjects for one more viewing!

All this, Incidentally, is called ‘DHYAAN.’ To learn about this, please click here.

It is something like this: We would like to Lift Up and Hug a Child. But the Child might be too busy, and interested in other things. Our Subconscious Mind too is Too Busy with Other things, to pay attention to, and to Receive, What God would like to give.

If We give our brain big things to do, it will become active! Silence the Mind by giving it something Small to do. And Only in that Silence Can it Receive God’s Gifts of Love, Happiness and Peace.

Have faith in all that you do

When we see a fork in the road, sometimes, when we’re not sure what is the correct path to take.

We may proceed down one path with extreme caution.

For awhile we may be walking on eggshells until we feel more secure about the path that we are taking.

If we have faith, the Lord will show us the correct path to take and he will walk with us to be sure that we reach our destination safely.
