In Search Of A Leader

Rajiv raises Good questions. Quite a few questions. And a Very well written article, as Rajiv’s always are!

As to HOW the money for the Subsidies/Free deliveries (promised by the AAP) is going to come from: I have already written about this here and there, elsewhere.

POINT: MOST OF IT DISAPPEARS INTO THE POCKETS OF POLITICIANS. (As Rajiv himself asserts in the banquets, the air miles and Hunger for MONEY on the part of politicos).

Equation Resolved and Problem Solved!

PS: After posting my thoughts above, came across this in Facebook. Am giving the Jist of the writings in Hindi into English, below the picture:

Rajiv Chopra's Photography Blog

As I get into this post, I am going to make a disclaimer, to some extent. While much of what I write uses examples from India, the stuff I write about does not really pertain to India alone. I quote Indian examples, because this is the context of the world I currently occupy.

The ruling party at the Centre is the Bhartiya Janta Party, or the Indian Party for the Common Man. They lost the Delhi elections to the Aam Aadmi Party, or the Party For the Common Man.

You may notice the names of both parties claim that they represent the Common Man!

Anyway, the BJP came into power on an anti-Congress wave, and our Prime Minister started by talking about austerity, humility, hard work etc. However, he seemed to let his backing party, the RSS, shoot their mouths off about Hindu fundamentalism, and allowed them to vandalise churches…

Bloggers are more important than journalists; FACT

1. Excellent Post!

2. From the article: “The voice of the people was only heard when the journalists and owners of these NEWS agencies deemed them relevant to be heard; the professionally paid journalists and wealthy fat cats controlled EVERYTHING we heard when it came to the NEWS.”

3. I do not think that Only White men are guilty of this. Think of Russia, China, Korea, and Our Dear India!

~ Okay, its 2015 and the reality of life is that the Internet has changed the world forever. And while in some ways it has caused people to waste a LOT of time (aka men sitting at their screens and looking at porn till very late into the night = bad) it has also enabled us to accomplish a lot of GOOD things.

For the better part of a couple hundred years, journalism, whether Newspapers, TV News, Radio News, etc., has been by-and-large controlled by the wealthy. It was wealthy businessmen (usually white) who owned all the newspapers, television news, and various news outlets (and oddly enough, most of the outlets are still owned by white men).

The voice of the people was only heard when the journalists and owners of these NEWS agencies deemed them relevant to be heard; the professionally paid journalists and wealthy fat…

Only Girls do that?

Do Only Girls do that? Bring Bad Name to their Families and Communities, that is?

In India, it is held that a serious misdeed ‘Cuts the Nose of the Person, the Family and the Village.’ This Cutting of the Nose Need Not be Physical. ‘Cutting the Nose’ implies Great Insult. We have the ‘Most Known’ incident of this in the Ramayana, that of Soorpnakaha, image below from the Internet.

Soorpanaka ee

Very artistic, if not Realistic. For picture of a Real happening, Image below.

Girl w cut nose

Image from: facthai.wordpress.com

This girl is looking at the camera with Defiance, and seems to have got over the pain, and more than that, the Shame She Suffered. My Sympathies for her.

Misdeeds, particularly of the Sexual kind, and again Particularly by Girls, are supposed to bring the Greatest Dishonour to the Family.

There are those who Loot the Country – aka Politicians, Those who make a Mockery of Justice – aka Judges, and Those who Should Speak out, but Don’t – aka Religious Leaders. I hold it that is a Sad, Bad and Horrible thing that those enumerated in this little paragraph are Not supposed to be Cutting the Nose of their Communities.

But Girls who get caught in their Sexual Misdemeanour’s, Are supposed to be bringing Insult to themselves and their families. I deliberately say ‘Get Caught,’ because all this ‘Cutting the Nose’ is attributed to them Only when their Bellies begin to Swell. Poor things. Nature itself conspires against them. Because, how-many-ever Mis-deeds a ‘Boy’ commits in this regard, his stomach does not swell.

Indian Society makes a Goodly Song and Dance about this. Girls ‘Cutting the Nose’ is the Brunt of Advertisements! I found this in two instances, which is High.

There is an ad from the service provider ‘Birla,’ an Old and Revered name in India. It is for ‘IIN’ (Idea Internet Network), whereby one does not have to leave the house to learn. Fair enough and Innocent enough. But, to establish this point, they have used these words:

“Jo Lakshman rekha paar karegi, Saare Kul ki Naak Kataayegi.” [The Girl who crosses the Lakshman Rekha, (refer the Ramayana), will Cut the Nose of the Whole Community.] The words, ‘Muh mein Kaalikh,’ (Blackening the Face), another Simile with the Same meaning, are also used.

Idea haryanvi

Image above and below by Screen capture from Youtube.

The woman in the forefront had been explaining that a Girl going out of the House or Compound could bring Dishonour. And that that is why they are using IIN.

The second advert, by JSW Steel, while also using the same words and thoughts above, uses them in a Mocking way, showing that Girls going Out can also bring Honour to the Community, as has done Geeta Phogat, the Award Winning Girl Wrestler from Haryana.

Haryanvi Geeta Phogat JSW Steel

See HOW differently Indian Society holds and treats ‘Males.’ The picture below shows the man accused of Raping a Five year old Girl. Yet, let alone ‘Blackening’ his face, it is ‘Covered,’ to avoid him Shame.

rape accused of 5 yr old delhi

Picture from Internet.

[I Spit on the judicial-law-and-police system that does not Name, Show and Shame Low-Life like these.]

It is a Great thing that Chastity is held in Such High regard in India. But it is Criminal to hold that Only the Girl brings Dishonour to Home and Community If She fails in this.

Each Mother and Father, and the Community should Hold and Teach their Male Offspring that He too would be Guilty of Shaming the Very Community in such Circumstances. And If Guilty, The Male Child too should be Shamed to the Same degree as the Female one.

PS: A note on Haryana: This is a state in India where they talk Much about Girls cutting the Noses of their Families. I ask:

  • Are Haryanvi men DOGS, who would assault Any woman who steps out of her home?
  • Just How have the people of Haryana brought up their Males, who would not spare the Female members of their Own Community? Seems Haryanvi Men are Very Weak creatures.

The Idea that (Only) Girls bring Dishonour to the Family is the Result of Very Bad Upbringing, and Very Bad Value Systems. Both these have to be seriously addressed and Changed.

Democracy is More than…

Democracy is More than Voting once in Five Years. IF You and I hold that Democracy is the Best possible process of Governance, then, I beg to state that We Have to Keep a Keen Eye on How things are being managed.

It would mean a question of Using Many faculties of Ours, Our Observation, Thinking and Action. Apathy and Inaction leads to Death, literally.

Today’s morning news over the TV, at all of 5.30 AM, spoke of the Murder of a 70 year old man in Bengaluru. To use its Old name, by which it may be more familiar to Readers, this happened in Bangalore. reference below.

This site of https://lovehappinessandpeace.wordpress.com and I, Yesudas, as its Author had covered the myriad Rapes and Gang Rapes that had been Proliferating our Indian scene. A search for the word Rape on this site would show up enough articles.

Bengaluru, which is one of India’s better known, Ancient, Lovely and Advanced cities, saw Multiple cases of Molestation, Rape, and Alas, even the Murder of Children, often less than 10 years old. Do We still want to say that these will happen Just to Others?

Writing about all the above, I had written that We Need to be Involved in what is happening around us, as such things could happen to Us, too.

We Need to:

  • Keep a Fair Hold on the Rein of things.
  • Ask politicos and officials what they have been doing and why things are not moving.
  • Join Protests and Marches, Show that So many of Us Care, (politicos are concerned Just with Numbers).
  • Question, Castigate, Criticise, Demand, and Specify Just What We Want, and What Needs to be Done.

Failure in these, as We see today, ends even in Death. Actions Enumerated above will protect Democracy, and Us.

Minimalism and Intention

I like this Idea of Minimalism Very much. For me, it leads to ‘Maxim-ism’ in other areas. Like being able to help a Needy Child with the money saved!

If You would like some ideas, Here is How I do it! Haha! 🙂

This year, the mantra for my life, and therefore the theme for this blog, are minimalism and intention.  So, through these posts I hope to bring little tid bits that inspire minimalism and intention in your life, too!  Of course the travel posts and weekends adventures will remain, with an added focus on being intentional, and minimal, when possible.

So, why minimalism?  Why intention?  And what do I really mean?

Minimalism first.  I think it’s a combination of realizing what really brings me joy, 2 impending moves within the next year (are we crazy or what?), and a desire to save money, that really kicked off my minimal effort.  I’m still in the beginning stages, and I think it will be fun to explore more areas of minimalism in this online community.  There are…

An open letter to Ms Kiran Bedi from Shabnam Hashmi

Came across this in Facebook today. Frankly, this is Only for those who Dare, and want Honesty. Have copied and pasted this. Reference at bottom. Emphasis mine.

An open letter to Ms Kiran Bedi from Shabnam Hashmi
February 8, 2015 2:52 pm

Let me begin by saying that I have never been your fan because I strongly disagreed with your patronising and dictatorial way of doing ‘social service’.

Shabnam Hashmi (Photo from Article)

Now that you will have ample free time I request you to reflect and introspect. I suggest make yourself a coffee sit in a rocking chair and put your feet in a bucket of hot water and relax.

Please think about what they have done to you.

I might not have been your fan but you have been a very confident professional woman. Every human being has shortcomings and we constantly strive to improve them but to be publicly ridiculed for the shortcomings is highly humiliating.

I saw a photograph where you are half bent and looking at Modi asking him something. The expression on your face is of helplessness and wanting approval from him.

It extremely pained me. I might have differences with you but as an activist and as a human being I would never want you or for that matter any other professional woman in this situation.

Ms Bedi you might not know but I recorded testimonies of gang rape survivors in 2002 when Gujarat was still burning. I travelled to over 50 villages across ten districts. Met doctors in small village dispensaries who had done postmortem, saw photographs of charred bodies of many women with slit open stomachs and dead fetuses sticking to their bodies. There were many kausar banos not only one in Naroda Patiya Whose case every one knows. Ms Bedi I met women who couldn’t get up for months because they were gang raped by 15-20 men and their vaginas were torn apart.

Ms Bedi Modi took out a Gaurav Yatra after 2002 carnage , he called the relief camps -where people who had lost everything were given shelter- child producing factories. Now last two years youtube has been sanitised of Modis footage spewing venom and talking filth. Sakshi Maharaj and Sadhvi Prachi are no Match in front of Modi. What he spoke was much more venomous.

Ms Bedi when bilkis was being gang raped they smashed her little daughters head against a stone and she died on the spot . Medina was forced to see her own daughter and niece being gang raped.

Ms Bedi it pained me to see you bend before this man.

You can tell me about the clean chit. I know a little too much to appreciate the clean chit stories.

Ms Bedi when this man was manipulated to become the PM I was advised to be careful. I told all such friends that maximum they can do is to malign arrest or kill. I would rather be killed physically than morally.

Ms Bedi please reflect when you are alone only with yourself what they have done to your self esteem. Think as a woman think as a mother. Think as a professional woman who has led a life with her head held high.

The most difficult thing is to have the courage to ruthlessly tell the truth to your own self to analyse your own self. For your own sake please do It.

My best wishes to you.

Shabnam Hashmi

Your Prayers would be Highly Appreciated [EDITED]

Hello, Again, my Friends! …This may sound peculiar; But I, who like Friends so much, do not have one with whom I can make contact, within a reasonable distance. My (once) Best Friend, Fr. Alphonse F., is nearly 2,500 Km away! …I have come to Look Upon You All, of the WordPress community, as my Friends now. So this sharing is even by way of Catharsis.

Am Editing my post of the 22nd of Jan this year. My Mom had looked like this, as You at the Bottom, then. On the 31st of Jan, she became Immobile, as in ‘Our Cat Oversees things.’ Day by day She is getting Weaker. …She is on a Catheter and ‘Under-pads,’ but the Instinct to get up and to go to the toilet, so as not to soil the clothes and the bed, is so powerful, that she tries trying to get…
